Orthodontist
What does a pediatric orthodontist do for your child’s health?
An orthodontist is a dental specialist who deals with the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of bite abnormalities.
Preventive check-ups by the orthodontist are crucial for children, as detecting improper bite or tooth positioning at an early age allows for less traumatic and minimally invasive treatment. The temporary and transitional periods of the bite are the most suitable for correction, so it is best not to delay a visit to the orthodontist. During the initial appointment, the orthodontist evaluates the child’s posture, facial features, mouth opening, shape, and size of dental arches, jaw relationships, tooth positioning, and the transition from baby teeth to permanent teeth based on the child’s age.

If necessary, additional examinations may be prescribed:
-
Panoramic X-ray of the teeth;
-
CT scan of the upper and lower jaw;
-
Lateral cephalogram;
-
Consultations with: orthopedist, endocrinologist, osteopath, kinesiologist, etc.
